Here are the details for the Burning Man 2008 "American Dream" screen savers:

1. Photos will only be accepted in the JPEG format. Please don't pre-edit your photos too often as this will create 'artifacts' in the photos and reduce the quality.

2. Each photo should be at least 1600 dots wide OR 1200 dots high (1024 dots wide OR 768 dots high at a minimum); i.e. panorama and tall-skinnies are okay provided one dimension meets the minimum. Higher is better.

3. There is no limit to the individual file size.

4. All content must be submitted either on CD or DVD via any pre-paid, snail method. No e-mail content will be accepted. No content will be downloaded from the web. (Why? - Put yourself in our shoes!!!)

5. Submitted content must be your own. And please remember to always ask permission before taking any photos of other people in BRC.

6. If you embed your own credits in your photos, please keep them down to the equivalent of 14 point font in a 1024x768 photo, on one line, in the bottom left-hand corner. Limit your credit to name/alias and/or contact information. Last year we had many photos come with credit lines that were very obtrusive. Some people complained that it detracted from the photos. Remember this is not a commercial marketing project this is a gift back to the burner community. So please keep the credits small, or if in doubt don't put credits in. Our new screen saver software will add them automatically this year. I will be contacting photographers for replacements for any albums that have credits that are to large. If time is to short they will not be included.

7. If you do not embed your own credits, be sure to convey what you want on your credit line, including your name/alias and/or contact information.

8. Content must be from the current year event.

9. Please rotate all of your images to their proper orientation prior to submitting them.

10. Don't Zip your files prior to burning your CD or DVD. That's just problematic and time consuming for us.

11. Submit as many photos as you wish, but your 50 best are probably sufficient. Don't send more than 250. Anything over that number will get arbitrarily reduced to 50.

12. We will send you a DVD with high res versions for both mac and pc. If you Don't have a DVD drive in your computer we will send you a CD with either mac or pc, please tell us witch if you do not want the DVD.

14. Do not send us pre-addressed and stamped mailers. We provide the mailers. Just send us your return postage in either cash or stamp form.

15. Include either $1.00 cash, or the equivalent in postage stamps for return postage. Only the first 10 people who forget to include return postage will receive a DVD in return.

16. Include a return address. Only the first 0 people who forget to include a return address will receive a DVD in return.

17. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS December 31st, 2008

19. If you want an e-mail reminder that the deadline for submission is looming, make contact.

20. In return for the above, you will receive a completed DVD in the mail.

21. As this is a monetary burden on us, any contributions to cover packaging and the web site will be greatly appreciated.
